2021's fall festival at the Nature Center was certainly a welcome change for many of us at El Modena High.
The weather was actually a warm 78degrees for October 2. We were thankful to have such a beautiful place to enjoy the arts.
Not many high schools have such a resource on their campus and it's all because of the hard work of Ms. Jeanne Carter.
Students from the Visual and Peforming Arts departments participated either by displaying their ceramics, 2D art like paintings, photographs and graphic design work.
As we entered, we could see on display was work by Ms.Melissa Seid's graphic design students. They had manipulated vintage Victorian photographs with a Halloween twist.
Mr. Peter Phun's students had done a fun collaborative project called "Day of the Dead" with Ms. Emmy Wang's art students and these portraits were on display as well.
Sprinkled throughout the inside of the Nature Center, we could see painted pumpkins by Ms.Emmy Wang's students.
We also saw beautiful ceramic work by Mr.Brian Beaman's students displayed along the small pond.
Mr.Brian Glahn' students played 4 tunes for all in attendance. Two very catch tunes "Superstition" and "Evil Ways" had everyone in attendance clapping and dancing.
Ms. Deborah Gillen's drama students performed four short plays titled:
Vampire
Fairies
Grave Situation
The Prefect Mask
Ms. Claire Zabaneh's Vanguard Dance company performed "Jitterbug Beware" to the delight of everyone.
Ms. Tracy Solis's Choral Students performed 4 songs for everyone.
Ballad of Sweeney Todd
Song of the Fortune Tellers
Lydia the Tatttooed Lady
This is Halloween
